Coming to a theater near you...

"Dudamel, Let the Children Play." Inspired in the life of Gustavo Dudamel, the Venezuelan-born orchestra director of the L.A. Philarmonic, the one-time movie also features the music program that trained him, "El Sistema." El Sistema was developed in Venezuela by José Antonio Abreu to bring music to impoverished areas as a way to bring hope to the children. El Sistema is known worldwide, and there's even one in Salinas. Music lover Joanne Taylor Johnson saw the need for after-school program in Salinas and decided to start the Youth Orchestra Salinas, YOSAL, using El Sistema method.

"Dudamel" will only be playing Thursday at the Century Cinemas at Del Monte Center. It may be the closest some of us ge to see Dudamel up close. Or maybe we get adventurous and make the trek to the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
